Peno, - a lake in the north-west of the Tver region of Russia, in the Penovsky district, one of the Upper Volga lakes located in the upper Volga.
The lake has an oval shape, stretched from north to south. In the central part of the lake are two large gulfs, extending into the western and eastern shores. To the north, upstream the Volga is Lake Veslug, to the south - Lake Volgo. Foam is connected with Vselug and Volgo short ducts, automobile bridges have been built above both (VseloK - now destroyed and Penovskiy), a railroad bridge of Velikiye Luki-Bologoe road was also transferred over the channel from Peno to Volgo.
The shores of the lake are sometimes high and dry, sometimes swampy. On the shores - forests, mostly coniferous and small-leaved, in the northern part of the lake - agricultural land. The origin of the lake is hollow. Earlier the lake was navigable, along it passed the passenger line Peno - Shirkov Pogost - Kokovkino (60 km), served by the ship "Zarnitsa".
