Khachin - the largest island on Lake Seliger.
The area of more than 3 hectares. From north to south its length is about 9 km. From west to east 6 km.
The island is inhabited by bears, elks, wild boars, badgers, foxes, raccoons, rabbits, muskrat, beavers. Of the waterfowl should be noted bittern, a rather rare bird, which was chosen for a nesting the shore of the island.
The administrative center of the island - is a village Volokhovschina. Villages Salnikovschina, Laskarevschina, Konev and Hreten become suburban towns and populated only in the summer. The island is geographically in Ostashkov district of Tver region.
The island is divided into two parts by means of artificial ducts - Copanca that the monks dug up for the reduction of the waterway and for safe navigation between Nikolo-Rozhok and Nilova Pustyn.
